Air Source Heat Pumps

Air source heat pumps (ASHP) extract low grade energy from the outside air and converts it to high grade energy via a compressor. This can then be used to provide heating and hot water.

An air source heat pump (ASHP) can still extract heat from air even as low as -15 degrees celsius.

Benefits of using Heat Pumps

With efficiencies of up to 500%, lower fuel bills than conventional fossil fuel heating systems
Lower carbon emissions
Income from the Government's Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) schemes
Low maintenance
No fuel deliveries, no smell, no potential for carbon monoxide poisoning

Installation of an LG Therma V Air Source Heat Pump in a bungalow in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

Comprises a 210 litre unvented cylinder with an incorporated buffer, which means that the owner has 50 litres of heated water ready to draw off into the radiators at any time.

Consequently, the heat pump doesn't have to work so hard, which makes it more efficient and reduces the homeowner's electricity costs.

Installation of an LG Therma V single fan Air Source Heat Pump in a 2-bedroom semi detached house in Badminton, Gloucestershire.

180 litre unvented horizontal cylinder with a separate 25 litre buffer, installed in the loft to maximise space in the airing cupboard.

The property had very inefficient electric storage heaters, so we removed these and installed new, modern radiators.

Installation of an LG Therma V Air Source Heat Pump in a 5-bedroom detached house in Brinkworth, Wiltshire.

Twin fan unit with a 250 litre unvented cylinder and an incorporated buffer.

This system drives radiators on the first floor and underfloor heating on the ground floor, which is a perfect combination because underfloor heating runs at a lower temperature - ensuring maximum efficiency.

Underfloor Heating Specialists

Many people are choosing underfloor heating systems for their homes and business, as they are a great alternative to traditional radiator systems.

Here at LRF Heating, we also design, supply and install underfloor heating (UFH) systems.

Whilst a heat pump will work well with radiator heating systems, because of the surface area available with underfloor heating, heat pumps will be even more efficient with UFH as they can be run with lower flow temperatures.

There are numerous systems available that suit all floor types and budgets, and many benefits with underfloor heating systems:
UHF systems cover a larger surface area, so they are much more energy efficient
Can reduce heating bills
Heat is distributed from the ground up, so there are no hot or cold spots in the room, which provides a more comfortable environment
More space is created by not needing to attach radiators to the wall, allowing a more flexible layout to your room or office
